About Staying put

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

We hope your visit to this website has provide new insights, knowledge, and and the chance to take a moment to reflect on our choices as humans on this fragile planet.

In this period we know as the Anthropocene, the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere are reaching drastic levels through the burning of fossil fuels (BBC, 2020). The knock-on effect is then seen on rising temperatures from what scientists label the greenhouse effect (BBC, 2020).  Although there remains some climate scepticism lingering in political circles, from the influences of leaders such as former US President Trump (Ratuva, 2017), climate change is almost wholly accepted as a man-made phenomenon (IPCC, 2018). As such, reflecting on our own carbon footprint is vital.  So whether your choices revolve around becoming flight free, reducing or ending consumption of meat, choosing more environmentally and socially conscious fashion brands, your individual choices do matter. When we have the power to make change it is important those in higher-income nations or families do so, because not everyone holds the same decision-making power.
